• 10 years with Piranha Aquatics

Hi! I am Coach Caroline; the Head Coach, CEO, and founder of Piranha Aquatics.
We are currently entering our 10th season in Salem with the Piranha Aquatics Swim Team, and I spent some time reflecting last past week on what that meant to me.  Many people do not know my "Swim Story", so I decided to share it with everyone.  This is published on my personal Facebook page, with some edits.

I cannot even begin to express the amount of gratitude I have for the past 9 years. Thank you to my friends, family, swim parents, and most of all, the surrounding community for support.

    Yours in swimming,

    Coach Caroline

    My Story

When I was ten, I cried during my first swim practice. And my second. And probably my third. Quite possibly for weeks. But I loved the water, and eventually, that water became the ONLY place I have ever felt truly at home.

  • P.A.L.S. Family Swim July 2016

Piranha Aquatics Swimming P.A.L.S. (Persons with Autism who Love to Swim) hosted a free family swim night for families with at least one member on the autism spectrum. The event’s headlining sponsor was the Autism Society of Mahoning Valley (“A.S.M.V.”). The event took place on Friday, July 22, 2016 from 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM at Columbiana’s Firestone Pool and was a night of fun for families who have members on the autism spectrum.

Piranha Aquatics Swimming is a 501(c)3 organization and any proceeds from this event were to be kept in a special fund to help kids on the autism spectrum learn to swim or to help host other community P.A.L.S. events. Tickets were free and were reserved through the event’s Eventbrite page.

  • Piranha Swimmer Zimmerman Spearheads Salem Dog Park Project

Salem residents and their canine companions can now enjoy their very own local dog park, thanks to Piranha Aquatics member Collin Zimmerman. Zimmerman, 18, led the effort as his Eagle Scout project for St. Paul Church Boy Scout Troop 6.

Located in Waterworth Memorial Park, the dog park is across the parking lot from the band shell, off of Sunset Boulevard between Lions baseball field and the nature trail. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Saturday, June 25.
